HISTORY
Based in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, Transit Forge metalworking studio specializes in forged and fabricated ironwork. The studio creates sculptural, functional, and architectural iron for interior and exterior applications. Owned and operated by Greg Gehner, Transit Forge focuses on unique design and quality products. Before establishing his studio in 2005, Greg received his degree in metalsmithing at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and worked for professional blacksmiths in Vermont and New York. Each experience added depth to Greg’s construction and metalworking skills. Greg’s work synthesizes traditional forging skills and industrial fabrication techniques with a contemporary aesthetic.
APPROACH
Transit Forge designs and creates well-crafted, visually engaging sculptural and functional metalwork for homes and businesses. Greg handcrafts each of the studio’s unique designs and custom commissions including: furniture, railings, bikes racks, signage, lighting, gates, fencing, and utilitarian home goods. Greg works from his original and collaborative designs, using creative problem solving to take a project from concept to finished installation.
FUTURE
After more than a decade of producing quality metalwork, Transit Forge looks forward to creating new connections and partnerships with architects, designers, builders, and craftspeople. Greg welcomes new opportunities to design custom metalwork for the region’s private and public spaces.
