“We manufacture and source home and bath products that are handcrafted for clean living. From our family to yours, you’re going to love it!”
Marit Aagaard and Jeff Lovett were puzzled by all the mysterious ingredients listed on the back of the commercial bath and cleaning products in their cabinets. They started crafting soaps with pure ingredients using household equipment in their home kitchen near Pittsburgh. With experience in canning food, brewing beer, and general tinkering, the couple honed the recipes and techniques over the years. The extreme popularity of the soaps among family and friends led to the creation of Lovett Sundries in 2015, and they released a line of body soap, shampoo, dishwashing powder, and laundry soap.
The products were instantly popular. With distribution to retail shops in Pittsburgh and around the country, and a busy online store, Lovett Sundries became a full-scale operation for Marit and Jeff. Initially working out of the same home kitchen, as the business-and their family-grew, they expanded to dedicated production space while remaining committed to the values of honesty and sustainability that got them started. Now Lovett Sundries crafts, ships, and sells all their products from their integrated production facility and retail shop in a converted hardware store on Penn Avenue in downtown Wilkinsburg. Featuring cards, gifts, and related items from other local purveyors, the shop is open for regular customers and foot traffic year round, while new soaps, lotions, and hair oils are crafted and shipped from the production floor in the back.
